burning hoopleheads

Home Studio (also known as Ze Art Cave) July 2013

After working vigorously out of the generator for the past 2-3 months, i've moved my studio back home. 

why?

i'll tell ya.

i learned a lot about myself this go-round. i learned:
* i can, in fact, paint with other people around
* i can get projects done on time in foreign space
* i love my friends
*i fucking love to paint

but i've also learned a few other things....
look,
i've been around the art warehouse block. pretty sure i had a massive hand in starting the salvagery revolution.  i've had my hand in several artist start-up spaces and i'm familiar with how they flow in this town...booming til burning man and then dormant for a few months and then booming again. that's all well and fine. 

i just can't handle anymore burners.

or their burning man projects.
or their burning man gifts.
or their burning desire to have me help them with their project.
or their wood piles.
or their sanders and saws and shitty music.
or their messes.
or their couches.
or their outfits.
or their inability to read a sign stating "headphones mean fuck off."
or their excitement. 
or their stories. 
or their self-righteous ex-temple-tudes.

i'm just here to make art on this earth as many days in a row as possible...usually without the dangling carrot of purpose (aka burning man).

after they way they treated lew, his crew, his art, and his design... i'll be damned if i give that event anymore of my time or money. after 9 (+/-) years of sitting on my porch entertaining the masses, they don't deserve it anymore and, quite frankly, i don't understand why people don't put their money where their mouths are and usurp that shit.

so

i've moved from the generator with all of this in mind.  i perhaps shouldn't be on the welcoming committee for folks moving their burning man projects into the space.

 i'll be back after all the hoopla from the hoopleheads is over.
