i don't know where to begin to start telling the world about this project.
how about i start by telling you this project will be the pinnacle of my career (to date). mallory is creating her own tarot deck. i will create 72 paintings composed of many people i know (coworkers, family, bar patrons, burners, friends, pillars of the reno community and the like) using the symbolism and history i've been researching for the past two years. the paintings will range in size from 5ftx3ft to 12inx12in. they will be unlike anything you've ever seen. it's no small undertaking. i've begun two of the many paintings but i'm going to need the world's help to finish. if you know me, asking for help isn't really my thing. it's not the easiest task... but i'm gonna do it. that's just a tiny testament as to how much i want this project to succeed. the first step in this journey is completing the final paintings. in the coming weeks i'll be setting up a small crowd funding site for folks to donate anything they can to help me on this epic paint adventure. i'm currently seeking models for more cards, any input you might have to share about tarot, and a name for this fantastic project--what will the name of the tarot deck be? feel free to share/post/comment. here's a small taste of The Chariot: a portrait of my friend andrew imposed upon a rider-waite theme'd card. we see him in his chariot garb and position, riding away from a scene of the danse macabre by holbein. instead of two sphinxes or lions, he is pulled by dueling sparrows.
